Southern Lights

Images of lighthouses from the southern United States - Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida

Picture Perfect Day on the Bay

Cove Point Light Station as seen from Calvert Cliffs State Park, in Lusby, Maryland, USA.

Old Bay Lighthouse

Cove Point Light Station is the oldest continuously operated lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay. Located in Calvert County, Maryland, it's a nice and easy 60 minute jaunt from the D.C. and Baltimore metro areas, and a nice duplex vacation rental property.

Old Cape Henry

The deep blue mid-winter's day skies at Cape Henry Lighthouse in Virginia Beach, Virginia make for brilliant contrast against this national landmark.

Illumination

Harbour Town Lighthouse - Blue Hour

The most recognizable symbol of Hilton Head Island and Sea Pines Resort, Harbour Town Lighthouse is a 90' privately built and private aid to navigation along the Harbor River in South Carolina, USA.

Included in publication (with permission) by the South Carolina Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative, a grant-funded division of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.

Cockspur Island Light

Built in 1839, it's the smallest lighthouse in Georgia; it ceased operating as an active beacon in 1909, but has been re-lit since 2007 for historical reasons.

Tybee Island Light Comes to Life

Historic Tybee Island Lighthouse begins to illuminate at sunset. Tybee Island, Georgia, USA.

St Simons Island Light - Blue Hour

The St Simons Island Light is a popular tourist destination on the Golden Isles of Georgia. Visitors can climb the 129 steps to the top of the light, and pier out from the platform - if you look closely here, you'll see a person just below the light.

Every Good Day Must Come to an End

I had a great day shooting photos around the Golden Isles. As Blue Hour grew deeper, and people began to park in the lot, it was time for me to wrap up my day.
